15th annual Matariki celebrations to welcome the Maori new year planting season and give thanks for the harvest.

Festival starts with a Kohangareo day to share stories of Wairoa 10am Monday 18 June.

Kaumatua/seniors activities includes spending the day with youth and planting trees in remembrance of war veterans at North Clyde Memorial Park 10am Tuesday 19 June

Wairoa College students will attend wananga on Wairoa stories, plant trees and play Maori game Ki Orahi with a visiting school team from outside the region 10am Wednesday 20 June

Primary Schools in Wairoa will come together for a day of Maori games and pastimes 10am Thursday 21 June

Community concert will feature kapa haka, singers, dancers, bands and a fireworks finale. Lots of food vendors are selling a variety of hot kai.
